The MEC-Band

Color-changing wristband, with fillable bars to determine the amount you have exercised.

How it Works

Copper wire coils and magnetic ball bearings are being used to create the Mechanical Electrical Charger Band (MEC-Band), using kinetic energy of motion which creates current for USB Device Charging.

Social

The MEC-Band’s social aspect allows you to compete with friends, share workout stats, your progress over time and more.

Stats

The MEC-Band will store workout stats and wirelessly transfer them to your profile using the myMEC-Band app.

Our Inspiration

According to a  2012 CDC study, the U.S. Obesity rate is 34.9%.
A study by the World Health Organization claims  that more than 1.4 billion adults worldwide are obese, caused partly by physical inactivity.
To tackle this problem we conceived MEC-Band, which encourages users to move and exercise by storing energy, which can later be used for USB Device Charging.
This device will change colors according to the number of miles exercised. Green means fully charged  Red means harnessing energy, and Black means there is no power in the MEC-Band.
